20 Minute Intermediate Pilates Workout to Reduce Stress
Sep 09, 2024If you are like us, running business, chasing kids around, off to sports 4 times a week, and making dinner inbetween it all, you could probably use a 20 minute intermediate pilates workout to reduce stress. We definitely find time to do this workout 2-3 times per week. In the video below, Pilates Teacher Trainer, Lara Yanik runs physiotherapist, Jen Gulley through the stress reducing video. We have set the tone with relaxing music to get you in the zone. This workout is filmed in our Pandosy Kelowna NeuMovement studio. We hope you enjoy it! Pilates Instructor Lara:
" We are about to introduce what we just came up with is a workout, but it is all about breathing. So we are going to do space cues, and we are going to cue the breath to really emphasize that inhale for three, exhale for 5 out the nose, the whole time. We are going to feel the stress levels melt off of the body. Alright let's get started!
Ok so arms are going to come up as we see our physiotherapist Jen Gulley is the body. Come all the way up. So you guys can lay down at home, stretch your arms and legs long. Let's start with that breath. Inhale through your nose, 3 and exhale out your nose for 5 counts. So let's talk about that. When you breathing through you nose you really want to feel like you're sending that breath to the back of your throat, letting it drop down to the belly and the lower lobes of the lungs and let it open, and exhale out. 5, 4,3,2,1 and then inhale for 3 again. Let the ribs open, 2,3. Then exhale through the nose, 5,4,3,2,1.
Let's start doing some poses now. Bend over to your left side, we are going to do a side bend, bring that foot over, and push back on that top foot. Create space in the body here. Lengthen the side body. Widen the base of your skull. So again inhale for 3..."
